I grew up in Tehachapi, California in a beautiful God fearing family. I went to Cal Poly with an interest in Spanish, yet not knowing what choices I would make in college, or what life I would lead. I yearned for acceptance and acknowledgment and found a cheapened version of it in many places but God had always wanted me to know my identity as his daughter, and be fulfilled by the creator of the universe, knowing me by name.By God's sovereignty and grace, I got involved in a freshman bible study through Cru, and it was the first time that I had experienced true community amongst believers in the same stage of life as me. I met weekly with an older mentor, and through the Holy Spirit's conviction and the Lord's grace and pursuit, I truly learned what Jesus meant when he says in Luke 9, "deny yourself and take up your cross daily and follow me". I had been a believer, knowing Jesus was true. Then I became a follower, watching and doing what Jesus and his people did. Through my time involved in Cru, I grew into a disciple, always learning and desiring to work alongside Christ and his church. I spent a year in El Salvador, telling Salvadoran students about the transformational power of the gospel and began mentoring new believers and training them in how to multiply their faith into the lives of others, in order to be a part of the Great Commission in their country as well as around the world. Matt. 28:19-20 I am passionate about seeing others find the hope and restoration in the arms of a loving Savior who died to set them free. I have seen the Lord use Cru as a tool to bring lost students to himself, and completely and radically make them a new creation, empowered by the Holy Spirit to share the good news of God's love and plan to give life to the lifeless and give a family to the orphaned. That is my story. I am just one. Each of you and each of the students on the Central Coast has a story, and God wants to be a part of it.
